Bracket Drag Racing Basics
Introduction
This Website is made to help those who are Building, or are Considering Building a Bracket Race Car or Truck. You can have a very Competitive Race Vehicle on a budget, if you put your money in the right areas. I will be covering everything from picking the Vehicle, to picking the right parts for the most consistent Bracket Race Vehicle possible. The reason why I say Consistent Vehicle is because that is what Bracket Racing is all about. Consistency, Going as close to the same RT (Reaction Time) and ET (Elapsed Time), as possible, every time you go down the Track. This is what it will take, to win at Bracket Racing whether it be on an 1/8 mile or ¼ mile Track.
Safety is the Number One most important thing in Drag Racing. Safety for the Driver, Track Workers and the Fans. There are numerous Safety Items that you and your vehicle will have to have, to Compete in Drag Racing at any Track. I will cover most of the Safety Items here that you will need, but what you will have to have, depends on the Track you Race at, the ET Your Vehicle is capable of doing, or the Class you are Racing in. Some Tracks, Require more or different Safety Items than are covered here, so you will have to check with the Track you are going to race at, for further Safety Requirements and (or) Regulations.
The Number one thing to Remember when Building a Drag Race Vehicle, is that your Race vehicle is no Stronger than it’s weakest Part. Quality is always better than quantity when it comes to Drag Racing. I will be covering most of the different parts available here, some you will have to have, others you will want to have on your Vehicle, and some you can only dream of having.
There is one more thing I want to say about Bracket Racing. That is this, you are there Racing with all these other people. Be a Sportsman about it. You may not win your first Race and you may even go the first year without a round win, but just to be there doing what you have always wanted to do and being a part of something as big as Drag Racing is in itself a Major Accomplishment. Be Proud of Yourself and Your Sport. If you see someone who needs help, don’t be afraid to ask if they need help. We are all in this Sport together and it would not be here if we were all not here. When I was Racing I just enjoyed being there. Oh Sure, I wanted to win, we all want to win, but if you don’t it does not matter, just have fun. You may have all the luck this week and next week you may not even make it to the start line. Yes, there are those that are out to win every event, but they are experienced and you will be with time too. Don’t make enemies make friends. You’ll be surprised how people will help you if you just be nice.
