Piston Rods

Piston Rods are not Cheap by any means and are very important. You will need to know the Proper length you need and if you need Full Floating Pins or Press Fit Pins. The length of the Piston Rod may not be the same as a stock Motor, even though you think it should be, sometimes the Pistons have a Piston Hole that is placed in a different Location, Higher or Lower on the Piston. This can change the Length of the Piston Rod needed. You can get Steel or Aluminum Piston Rods. Piston Rods can be strengthened by Grinding of the Parting line marks on the shaft and then having them Shot Peened. This is a process where they use a media to Blast the Rods like Sand Blasting. This Process is known to make metal much stronger. You will want a Piston Rod that has a Larger Rod Bolt for added strength. Do not try to drill the Rods out for Larger Bolts as you may Crack the rod or you will weaken it in the Rod Bolt Area. Used Piston Rods should not be used for Racing, but if you do use used Rods, they should be check for cracks and straightened by a Machine Shop.
